A credible information was received today morning that few members of Gatta LOS have been camping with the intention of carrying out destructive activities in the Modaske forest area under the jurisdiction of PS Gatta (J) of Etapalli Tahsil. An Anti-Maoist operation led by Addl. SP Aheri Shri. Satya Sai Karthik and 05 C-60 parties were launched from Aheri immediately in the said forest area assisted by Gatta (J) Post party and CRPF ‘E’ Coy 191 Bn. personnel who laid an outer cordon around the said forest area.
While the search operation was being conducted; police parties were fired indiscriminately by the Maoists, which was retaliated strongly by the Security Forces. Eventually, Maoists managed to flee from the spot taking cover of dense forest upon witnessing the increasing police pressure.
After the Exchange of Fire stopped, searching of the area has led to recovery of two female Maoist’s dead bodies. The identities of the two deceased female Maoists have been confirmed as listed below.

Various crimes have been registered against deceased female Maoists, including encounter, arson, murder etc. Along with this, 02 firearms including one AK-47 rifle & one Pistol, Live ammunitions, Maoist literature and other belongings have also been recovered from the spot. Among the deceased female Maoists, Lalita @ Laddo @ Sandhya Korsa, aged 34 years, R/o, Neltola, Tah. Pakhanjur, Dist. Kanker (CG), was the wife of Gatta Dalam DVCM Raju Veladi @ Kalamsai.
This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of ADG (Spl. Ops) Dr. Chhering Dorje, Spl. IGP ANO Shri. Sandip Patil, DIG Gadchiroli Range Shri. Ankit Goyal, DIG (Ops.) CRPF Shri. Ajai Kumar Sharma, SP Gadchiroli Shri. Neelotpal, Commdt. 191 Bn. CRPF Shri. Satya Prakash and led by Addl. SP Aheri Shri. Satya Sai Karthik and C-60, AOP Gatta (J) and CRPF commandos. Anti-Maoist operations are being further intensified in the area. Since 2021, due to sustained efforts of Gadchiroli Police, 93 hardcore Maoists have been neutralised, 130 Maoists have been arrested and 75 Maoists have surrendered before Gadchiroli Police. The Ops team has been appreciated by SP Gadchiroli for their exceptional performance in this tough terrain and inclement weather. For successful execution of this operation and safe return of all police personnel, the entire operation was supervised by Addl. SP (Ops) Shri. M. Ramesh, Addl. SP (Admn.) Shri. Gokul Raj G., Dysp. (Ops.) Shri. Vishal Nagargoje, C-60 Pranahita In-charge API Rahul Devade along with other officers and personnel of C-60 Gadchiroli and Pranahita, who all played a vital role. SP Gadchiroli Shri. Neelotpal has ones again appealed to all Maoists to lay down their arms, surrender and join the mainstream of development.
